Players make their own Battlefield 2042 Battle Royale Mode
Battlefield 2042, the latest installment in the popular Battlefield franchise, has been met with mixed reviews. While some players have enjoyed the new features and gameplay, others have been vocal about their desire for a Battle Royale mode. Despite the lack of an official Battle Royale mode, players have taken it upon themselves to create their own version of Battlefield 2042 Battle Royale.
DICE, the developer of Battlefield 2042, has not yet announced plans for a Battle Royale mode. The company has focused on developing and stabilizing the existing game modes, such as Conquest, Breakthrough, and Hazard Zone. However, players who are not satisfied with these modes have found a way to create their own Battle Royale experience within the game.
Why does BF2042 not have a Battle Royale mode?
The Battle Royale genre is already dominated by popular games like Fortnite, PUBG, Apex Legends, and Call of Duty: Warzone. DICE may be hesitant to add a Battle Royale mode to Battlefield 2042 because they want the game to stand out from the competition and maintain its focus on the All-Out Warfare experience.
What are their current modes?
- Conquest: This classic Battlefield mode involves two teams competing for control of points on the map. Players can capture points by deploying and holding them for a certain amount of time. The team with the most points captured at the end of the match wins.
- Breakthrough: This mode features an attacking team pushing forward against a defending team. The attacking team must capture all sectors of the map, while the defending team must hold their ground. The attacking team has a limited number of reinforcements, while the defending team has unlimited reinforcements.
- Hazard Zone: This mode is similar to a Battle Royale, but it features a more strategic approach. Players are tasked with collecting data drives scattered across the map. They can eliminate other teams to steal their data drives and ultimately escape the zone. Unlike a traditional Battle Royale, Hazard Zone does not feature scavenging for gear and players start with a fixed set of equipment.
What about the Battlefield Portal mode?
Battlefield Portal is a unique feature that allows players to create their own custom maps and game modes. This is where players have been able to make their own versions of Battlefield 2042 Battle Royale. One notable example is the “Battlefield 100” mode, which replicates the core elements of a Battle Royale experience. Players parachute onto a map, scavenge for weapons, and battle it out until there is only one player left standing.
How does the Custom Game mode work?
The “Battlefield 100” mode, created by player “chbmg”, is a testament to the creativity of the Battlefield community. The mode features several interesting mechanics:
- Invisible loot: Since the game does not allow the placement of objects, the creator of the mode made loot invisible and instead provides players with written prompts and indicators on where to find it.
- AI bots as a circle: To simulate a shrinking circle, the creator used AI bots placed in a circle surrounding the safe areas. These bots are highlighted in red, indicating the boundary of the circle.
- Prison system: Players who die are sent to a prison, where they can rejoin the game by killing a required number of other players. The number of kills needed depends on the number of times the player has died.
