Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 - Campaign, Zombies, Multiplayer

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 – First Campaign and Zombies Details, First Multiplayer Impressions

Campaign

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 continues the narrative from 2012’s Black Ops 2, plunging players into 1991. Adler, a key figure from the previous iteration, is back with renewed determination. The campaign follows a rogue special forces team, now operating outside the CIA. Facing a new threat to democracy, the team must gather resources, rebuild, and clear their names. The “whatever it takes” theme is prominent, showing agents getting creative and more violent than before. Key elements from Cold War return, like safe rooms and in-world puzzles. Furthermore, the campaign features enhanced dialogue options with teammates, creating multiple paths for narrative progression. These choices reveal deeper lore and connect to past installments, going beyond the typical spy-espionage storyline.

Zombies

The Zombies mode in Black Ops 6 directly continues the story from Cold War. Richtofen, revealed to be the Director, is now holding important figures captive. The storyline focuses on Dr. Peck, a character introduced in Cold War, who is searching for lost comrades on a prison island. A new companion, Maya Aguinaldo, joins Peck in this quest to free the captured team. Players can play as any operator but by controlling the central figures (Weaver, Grey, Carver, Aguinaldo), unique storyline progression and dialogue branches become available. Two new maps, Liberty Falls and Terminus, are featured at launch. Liberty Falls, nestled in the Appalachian Mountains, presents numerous areas for extensive gameplay. Terminus, a multi-level island prison, offers diverse vantage points for players.

Multiplayer

Black Ops 6’s multiplayer retains modern FPS elements while incorporating classic Call of Duty mechanics. The UI boasts a streamlined aesthetic that draws inspiration from the original Black Ops, yet avoids visual clutter. Players can customize on-screen widgets and adjust the minimap layout, mirroring the adjustability found in mobile FPS games. A major addition is the new omnidirectional movement system, enabling players to seamlessly sprint, slide, and dive sideways without losing momentum. Prestige is back, with ten levels offering a return to hardcore player appreciation. The maximum level to hit before prestige is 55, allowing players to reach Prestige Master at 1,000 levels. New loadouts feature combat specialities with one primary, one secondary, and one melee weapon. Three combat specialty perks (Enforcer, Recon, Strategist) are available, and selecting three of the same type unlocks a fourth perk, tailored to specific play styles.
