Fallout 76: How to begin Enclave quests

The Enclave faction in Fallout 76 offers players access to some of the game’s most sought-after resources. These include powerful mutation serums, blueprints for the iconic X-01 power armor, and the ability to launch devastating nuclear missiles. If you’re looking to gear up quickly, you can always buy Fallout 76 Bottle Caps to secure the supplies you need. However, the path to joining this secretive organization and climbing its ranks can seem obscure. This guide will walk you through each necessary step to initiate and complete the Enclave questline, allowing you to unlock its exclusive rewards and become a true asset to Appalachia’s future.

Starting the Questline

Your journey with the Enclave begins by uncovering a hidden location in the eastern reaches of The Mire. Seek out the Abandoned Waste Dump, a discreet nuclear waste disposal cave. Upon entering, prepare to face Deathclaws, formidable creatures guarding the path. Navigate to the cave’s furthest left corner, where you’ll discover a secluded alcove containing the remains of an Enclave agent. Interacting with this corpse will automatically trigger the quest “Bunker Buster.”

To access the initial Enclave bunker, you must first disable its security. Search the Deathclaw nests within the cave to locate the Bypass Holotape, which is crucial for activating the elevator. Once inside the bunker, the security system will impede your progress. You have two options: either locate and activate a series of circuit components (the circuit breaker in the laundry room, the air flue above the generator, and the circuit conduit near the vents), or use your hacking skills on the Level 3 terminal to bypass these steps entirely. Finally, within the office area, a keypad blocks the way. The correct combination is hidden within a document on the terminal in the same room, specifically one detailing the death of Judy Blackwell. Inputting this code correctly will reveal a painting that conceals the true entrance to the Enclave’s main hub.

Whitesprings Bunker

Having successfully navigated the initial challenges, your next destination is the Whitesprings Bunker, situated directly south of the Whitesprings Resort. Since you’ve completed “Bunker Buster,” the laser barriers will now part for you, granting passage into the main vault. Inside, you’ll encounter MODUS, the advanced artificial intelligence overseeing Enclave operations in Appalachia. This meeting initiates the quest “One of Us,” where MODUS assigns you crucial infiltration missions. Your primary tasks involve penetrating two strategic locations: first, the Sugar Grove naval base in the Savage Divide to upload a holotape into a designated terminal; and second, the National Radio Astronomy Research Center, where you’ll uplink into a satellite dish. Successfully completing these objectives results in a valuable supply pod descending from orbit, containing useful orbital strike beacons.

Upon returning to Whitesprings Bunker after these endeavors, you will be officially recognized as a member of the Enclave faction. This grants you immediate access to their various vendors and plans. However, MODUS will inform you that the military wing of the bunker, which houses the coveted X-01 power armor schematics, remains locked. To unlock this critical area and claim its rewards, you must undertake two additional quests, further proving your loyalty and capabilities to the Enclave.

Back to Basics and Officer on Deck

To finally gain entry into the military wing, your next step is to complete the quest “Back to Basics.” This quest requires you to journey to Camp McClintock and enlist in the simulated military program. You’ll need to equip an Army uniform and helmet to proceed, after which you’ll undergo a series of training exercises. These challenges test your agility, marksmanship, patriotism, and ultimately culminate in a live-fire exercise. Successfully completing this rigorous program officially enlists you into the virtual U.S. Army. With “Back to Basics” accomplished, return to Whitesprings Bunker and confer with MODUS, who will then discuss your promotion to General. This conversation will trigger the subsequent quest: “Officer on Deck.”

For “Officer on Deck,” your primary objective is to acquire ten promotion commendations. These commendations can be earned through various means, including eliminating Legendary enemies, taking down formidable Scorchbeasts, or participating in Enclave-specific activities. The most efficient methods for gathering commendations often involve hunting Scorchbeasts in the Cranberry Bog or actively joining public events, as these frequently guarantee the appearance of Legendary foes, significantly accelerating your progress. Once you have amassed all ten commendations, you will finally gain access to the military wing of the bunker. Inside the armory section, locate the “Archival Terminal” (a red terminal) and select the “Schematic Archive” section, then “Prototype Power Armor schematics” to automatically unlock the X-01 power armor plans. Remember that individual mods for the X-01 armor are sold separately by MODUS in the production wing of the bunker.

Best Enclave Vendor Items

The Whitesprings Bunker serves as a crucial hub for obtaining some of Fallout 76’s most valuable gear and consumables. Its science wing hosts the vendor terminal for highly sought-after mutation serums. These consumables provide powerful, beneficial mutations like Marsupial (increasing carry weight and jump height) and Speed Demon (boosting movement and reload speed), without the usual negative side effects. While the plans to craft these serums are costly, often around 20,000 caps each, they represent a worthwhile investment, as crafted serums can be sold to other players for a consistent profit.

Other notable vendor offerings across the bunker’s distinct sections include:

  • Production Wing: Here, you can purchase various mods for the X-01 power armor, allowing you to customize your suit to your playstyle. You’ll also find plans for the Covert Scout armor set, a sleek and effective defensive option.
  • Armory Wing: This section is a treasure trove for combat enthusiasts. It offers powerful energy weapons like Gatling Lasers, unique Enclave plasma weapons, Gauss Rifles, and their corresponding ammunition types, alongside essential Fusion Cores.
  • Medical Wing: For those in need of recovery and enhancement, the medical wing stocks a wide array of rarer chems and healing items, perfect for keeping your health and stats optimized during your adventures.

Beyond gear, the Enclave also provides access to the strategic capability of launching nuclear missiles. By interacting with the surveillance system terminal, you can initiate a repeatable quest to acquire a nuclear keycard by tracking a cargobot. While obtaining silo codes manually can be challenging, community-driven websites often provide updated nuclear codes weekly, simplifying the process of unleashing a devastating strike on Appalachia.

With these steps, you are now a fully-fledged member of the Enclave, capable of wielding its technological might and influencing the future of the wasteland. Explore all the bunker has to offer and make the most of your new-found privileges!
