One player wanted to join a group for a pit run in Diablo 4, but was rejected – and proved to the others that arrogance is sometimes the final boss.

In the pit, you unlock further torment levels in Diablo 4. With its many levels, the activity is also a good way to test the strength of builds in the endgame. Experts, such as Rob, use it for their theorycrafting, which serves as the basis for our tier list.
One player reports on Reddit that he was kicked by other players from the group. His level was apparently not high enough for the others for the pit. After he got the chance to play, the others had to learn that a high level is not everything.

What happened to the player?
In his Reddit post, MontyGames101 says that he was looking for a group to tackle the pit below level 120. For comparison, the strongest builds make it to level 140, according to Rob’s assessment in his Google Doc. The player finds a group, but is kicked several times.
On the third attempt, he asked why. The answer: His level was “too low”. He was already at level 230 with his barbarian. When he explained that he could easily reach level 120, he got the answer from the group lead: “Well then, let’s see ;)”
So the group got a lesson in humility:
Halfway through the pit, the player character of the group lead died – the rest of the group and MontyGames101 did not. MontyGames101 then offered to lower the pit level if the lead wanted to. But instead of an answer, he was simply kicked without a word.
In his Reddit post, he writes that it felt damn good. He notes that you shouldn’t underestimate any player based on their level. The user ends his post with: “PS: Don’t be that kind of guy.”
This shows that level is not the only thing that determines a player’s strength in Diablo 4. The group leader was blinded by his arrogance and felt what it means to be judged and underestimated prematurely.
Blizzard recently made an admission regarding a past decision. The Curiosity Merchant was once one of the best places to go for loot—until it was nerfed in Season 7. And Blizzard admits that they nerfed the merchant too much in Season 7 of Diablo 4. Whether the group lead realized that he made a mistake here and judged too quickly, we probably won’t know.
