Starfield 1.7.33 Update Patch Notes
Bethesda Game Studios has released a new patch for Starfield. While minor, it does improve performance and addresses an issue for some AMD GPUs not properly displaying star lens flares.
Addressing AMD GPU Lens Flare Issues
Patch 1.7.33 addresses several performance and stability problems while tweaking some gameplay issues. The biggest one comes for the PC version, specifically for those with AMD graphics cards in their rigs. Earlier this month, some AMD GPU users reported an issue where it was daylight, but star lens flares (aka when light is scattered or flared due to bright light) were not visible, with several people posting on Reddit reporting and/or posting screenshots of the issue. This issue has been resolved with the new update, ensuring AMD users can now enjoy the full visual spectacle of Starfield’s celestial environments.
Performance and Upscaling Improvements
Another standout in Patch 1.7.33 addresses an upscaling feature that was causing textures to become blurry. As a reminder, Starfield offers two official upscaling technologies: AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution 2 (FSR 2) and FidelityFX Contrast Adaptive Sharpening (CAS). While there is unofficial support for Nvidia’s DLSS and Intel’s XeSS via mods, Bethesda previously confirmed it will finally add official support for Nvidia’s supersampling tech.
In addition to the AMD GPU fix and upscaling enhancements, the patch also includes various stability and performance improvements to address crashing and freezes. These improvements aim to provide a smoother and more enjoyable gameplay experience for all players.
Other Notable Fixes
Patch 1.7.33 also brings a range of fixes for various aspects of the game, including:
- Characters: Fixed an issue that could cause some characters to not be in their proper location.
- Star Stations: Fixed an issue where Star Stations would be labeled as a player-owned ship.
- Vendors: Addressed an issue that allowed for a vendor’s full inventory to be accessible.
- Hand Scanner: Addressed an issue where the Hand Scanner caused hitching.
- Ships: Fixed an issue that would cause displayed items to disappear when applied to in-ship mannequins.
- Ships: Fixed an issue that would cause items stored in Razorleaf Storage Containers and Weapon Racks to disappear after commandeering another ship.
Starfield’s Continued Success
Despite initial performance issues and bugs, Starfield has become a big hit for Bethesda, with the game hitting 10 million players since it came out on Sept. 1, making it the biggest game launch in the studio’s history.
Starfield’s expansive world, immersive roleplaying quests, and respectable combat have captivated players, attracting a large and dedicated fanbase. The game’s success is a testament to the enduring appeal of Bethesda’s signature open-world exploration and storytelling.
With each new update, Bethesda continues to refine and improve the Starfield experience, ensuring a more enjoyable and polished gameplay experience for players. Patch 1.7.33 is a testament to the studio’s commitment to providing a bug-free and optimized game for all players, regardless of their hardware configurations.
