The First Descendant Update 1.0.4 Tweaks Popular ‘Valby Run’ Farming Method
Nexon, the developer behind The First Descendant, has released update 1.0.4 across various platforms. This update significantly alters the popular “Valby Run” farming method, a highly efficient way to acquire in-game gold and experience points. Players strategically exploited the mechanics of the Valby character and the Fortress Outpost on hard mode to amass massive resources. However, the update aims to balance the game’s economy, while preserving the desirability of the farming location.
The First Descendant Update 1.0.4 Patch Notes in Full
This patch addresses several key aspects of the game, bringing important adjustments and improvements to the gameplay experience. Changes include:
- Module Storage Increase: The maximum amount of modules players can store has increased from 1,000 to 1,500.
- Outpost Cooldown Reduction: The cooldown for the “Vulgus Strategic Outpost” has been slashed from five minutes to a manageable one minute.
- Monster Respawn Adjustments: Monster respawn time at the “Vulgus Strategic Outpost” has been extended, and the reward amount has been adjusted for greater balance.
- Void Fragment Drops: Void Fragments will now drop more frequently when defeating monsters in Special Operations, with the “Neutralize Void Experiment” providing the most rewards.
- Enhanced Special Operation Rewards: Using “Mark for Arrest” items from Special Operations will increase gold rewards tenfold. The values are substantially higher for both regular and high-value versions.
The rationale behind these alterations, as explained by Joo Min-seok, director of The First Descendant, is to balance the game’s economy while maintaining Valby Run’s appeal.
Although the reward amount at Fortress Outpost has been decreased, the efficiency of the farming method remains significantly higher than other locations. This ensures that Valby Run continues to attract players and becomes comparable to other effective farming spots like Ambush Point and Refined Run.
The update also includes adjustments to shorten outpost cooldowns, eliminating the need for players to seek out outposts with shorter cooldowns and streamlining the gameplay experience.
The First Descendant Week Five Update Patch Notes Preview
The upcoming week five update brings new content and balance adjustments to The First Descendant, including the addition of a new Descendant. This preview highlights several major additions:
New Descendant: Luna
The Mad Artist Luna returns to Albion with her powerful synthesizer gun. Her abilities are enhanced by musical performance. When engaging in a rhythm-based approach, Luna can amplify ally skills, increase power, or reduce resource consumption, adding a new dimension to cooperative gameplay. The addition of Luna offers an alternative playstyle for players seeking musical engagement in their gameplay strategy.
New Ultimate Weapon & Module:
Ultimate Valby receives new modifications, such as Spiral Tidal Wave and Hydro Pressure Bomb. Luna has access to Nimble Footsteps and Noise Surge. These changes enhance their specific gameplay approaches, aiming to improve player agency and variety in combat. Gluttony, the mutated Devourer-type monster, adds another challenging opponent.
The new Ultimate weapon, the “Peace Mediator,” excels in single-shot precision or rapid-fire capabilities. A new Module, “Arche Concretion,” increases defense and mentality while using skills, but decreases movement and attack speed. This addition gives players more options when building their characters.
Balance Adjustments for Existing Content
The update includes balance adjustments to certain Descendants and Ultimate weapons. Descendants specializing in AOE attacks will receive improvements in performance, making them more impactful in combat. Furthermore, single-shot weapons and those enhancing critical hit chance and damage, including Enduring Legacy, Secret Garden, and Nazeistra’s Devotion, will undergo enhancement.
Additional improvements in convenience will round out the week five update, along with new cosmetic items. This comprehensive approach to balancing and content introduction aims to satisfy existing players and appeal to new users. The update seems to acknowledge player feedback regarding efficiency, offering more balance and customization.
Nexon continues its dedication to improving The First Descendant through these updates, a strategy that has already attracted millions of players.
