There is a bot epidemic in World of Warcraft Classic . Stormwind has more automatic farmers than actual players.
In World of Warcraft Classic, many players are currently spending their time in the Season of Discovery. The second phase started here just a few days ago, with lots of new content. This was also accompanied by the controversial decision that GDKP is now banned . But another problem has now emerged: bots. So many that real characters are likely to be in the minority.
A YouTuber draws attention to this problem and documents how an almost endless stream of bots is making the city of Stormwind unsafe.
What does the video show?
Vixacious's short video shows his observation on the Season of Discovery Lone Wolf realm. He is in the capital Stormwind and is watching the square near the Mage's Quarter, between the dungeon and the Enchanting Merchant:
There are hundreds of bots milling around here that appear to be walking back and forth between the dungeon and the dealer on three different tracks, fully automated.
Why is this so clear now?
The fact that the bots are now so open to the world is due to a change in the last few days. There are actually numerous “layers” in Stormwind, i.e. several “instances” of the city, so that only a fraction of the characters can be seen at any given time and the game runs smoothly. A few days ago, however, Blizzard reduced the number of layers so that more characters are in the city at the same time and the bot problem can be seen in full force.
What are the bots doing there?
The bots repeatedly visit the dungeon “The Dungeon” and farm it endlessly to acquire various items. A large part of it is turned into gold and sold directly to the dealer, while more useful items are probably sold at the auction house.
This is how the bots win a lot of gold, which is then sold to the players - an actually illegal thing and no longer so lucrative due to the ban on GDKP. The number of bots makes it clear that the business still seems to be worthwhile.
This is how the community reacts:
The sight of this sheer number of bots leaves most players stunned. After all, the bots also ensure that the realms are sometimes considered “full” and that there are waiting times when logging in.
“There are more bots than players in Stormwind.” – kcid3991
A large number of people also react extremely cynically and mock Blizzard and their ban policy:
- “This behavior is just too difficult to ban, sorry. Walking the exact same path pixel perfect for weeks is not a trustworthy sign of a bot.” – Luxleftboob
- “Sorry guys, we can't ban her because then the bot makers will know what she revealed! If we wait, it will be a huge secret for them! …lol” – JuanoldDraper
- “So the bot problem didn’t go away at all, they just put them on different layers, giving the illusion of fewer bots.” – Powpowpowowowo
Incidentally, many confirm that it looks very similar on their realms and that such “bot armies” occur not only in Stormwind, but also in many other places in the open world.
Do you also suffer from the bots? Or haven't you been able to discover any yet?
