What will be nerfed? Even before the current season Return of the Ancients, the Vaal Temple was introduced in the season before. This place lets players who buy POE 2 Currency build a temple full of traps and dangers for themselves.
The idea is simple: the deadlier the temple, the more loot there is. But resourceful players figured out early on how to build the temple in such a way that it brings a hell of a lot of loot. There are extremely rewarding room combinations with which you can farm enormously valuable resources and equipment in a very short time.
Already in the season before, the Vaal Temple triggered hotfixes from the developers, who had to intervene because the place was simply too good. Now the developers are intervening again.
Less loot in the temple
What is changing? As the developers of Path of Exile 2 announce on X.com, they are nerfing the temple again. Players have probably found extreme ways to pack the temple with loot so much that they have to intervene.
In their message, the developers explain: “Unfortunately, we have to limit some of the optimization possibilities that the temple offers quite a bit. This will happen in the next few hours as part of a hotfix.”
So the temple itself will probably remain as we know it. However, the factors that influence how much loot drops will be changed.
How do the players react to this? Path of Exile 2 players welcome the changes. So many players seem to be relieved that these extreme ways of value creation are now being ended. On Reddit, the relief reads like this:

- Bcbuddyxx: “Good, thank you. It’s so annoying to see the economy being ruined, especially since this season is already going to be extremely long.”
It’s true that the economy will be important, especially this season. The developers have already prepared fans for the fact that “Return of the Ancients” will be the last season before the full release and could take a little longer.
