Path of Exile 2 recently released a huge update with many new features and with great success. As players rush to buy POE 2 currency to try out the new content, the number of players is reaching a high and even veterans who were previously skeptical now have to admit: Path of Exile 2 has become really good.
Patch 0.5 was released on May 29 and with it the update for Return of the Ancients for Path of Exile 2, the biggest expansion for the franchise in many years. The update adds some new content to the ARPG, including:
- the new league “Runes of Aldur” with new runes and Kalguur skills
- 2 new Ascendant classes, Monk and Spirit Walker
- new bosses, unique items and nodes
- various improvements for the game quality, such as a built-in build planner

Perhaps one of the biggest highlights is the ability to sacrifice your character at level 100 to help the entire community and even win a unique title if you’re quick enough.
Path of Exile 2 has more players than ever before on Steam due to the update. Although Return of the Ancients came with a few problems that were fixed (or briefly worsened) in hotfixes afterwards, for many fans, the game is in really good shape.
“It was obvious that PoE 2 was going to be good”
On Reddit, a user has his say who posts a screenshot of his playing time in Path of Exile 1: over 9,000 hours, according to his own statements it is even over 10,000. He writes: although he “hated” Path of Exile 2 for a long time, he has to admit that it is finally good now with patch 0.5.
The community agrees in the more than 300 comments with virtually no objection. A user with the appropriate name “Grinding_Gear_Slave” writes, for example:

Something of this kind has also been criticism of the game recently, but with Return of the Ancients, the developers have mainly improved the basics instead of just putting new systems on top – even if there is still trouble with maps.
However, the large scope and complexity of Path of Exile 2 is not right for every ARPG fan. Return of the Ancients, in particular, triggers opposite feelings among players of the rival Diablo 4.
