During the 2023 Blizzard Carnival celebration, Blizzard announced the next three expansions for their popular MMORPG, "World of Warcraft."
These new expansions were directly revealed by the returning Executive Creative Director and seasoned veteran of the Warcraft series, Chris Metzen. He disclosed that the new expansions would encompass a "truly epic" storyline, reaching the climax of the 20-year history preceding the events of Warcraft III, and would guide players into a new 20-year storyline adventure.
The new storyline is titled "Worldsoul Saga" and will unfold over the next few years through multiple expansions. These expansions are expected to be released "a bit faster" than what players are accustomed to.
The first new expansion is named "The War Within," which will take players deep into the heart of Azeroth to explore the underground kingdom. It is scheduled to be released in 2024.
The second new expansion, "Midnight," will transport players back to Quel'Thalas to confront the forces of the Void and eliminate the threat of Azeroth's impending destruction by the Light.
However, things may not go as planned, as the third expansion, "The Last Titan," set in Northrend, will allow players to witness the return of the Titans and confront the truth and purpose of the Titans in Ulduar.
We have also learned that in the early part of next year, a new hardcore gameplay mode will be introduced to the "World of Warcraft" Classic servers. Based on player feedback, the 4.0 "Cataclysm" expansion will also undergo changes and is scheduled for release in the first half of next year.
The definition of the "Discovery Season" in the "World of Warcraft" Classic servers is described as a "variant of the original World of Warcraft," including changes in leveling abilities. It has a level cap of 25 and its own end-game content. Several months later, the level cap will be raised, and another segment of end-game content will be introduced, and so on. This will be launched on November 30th without a public test, so that everyone can simultaneously discover its secrets.
