In the past, healers have had a hard time, being kicked out of groups in WoW simply because they were no longer needed. And it seems that even the damage dealers are no longer needed.
What kind of phenomenon is this?
When World of Warcraft was released, the holy trinity of tank, damage dealer and healer was in effect. The healers were thrown out of groups some time ago because their function was no longer needed. They had a hard time finding a group.
Now there are groups that even manage without damage dealers. In WoW, more and more groups are forming that only manage “Mythic+” dungeons as a tank constellation.
For example, in a YouTube video, user Kallugrax shows how 5 tanks manage to complete a dungeon at level 22. At the end you even have 4:20 minutes left. This suggests that they could have even gone a few steps higher.
Tanks have become all-rounders in WoW
How is that possible?
Some tank classes have self-healing and now deal almost as much damage as damage dealers. This makes them all-rounders who can easily navigate even difficult content.
First of all, tanks don't have to worry about Blizzard increasing their strength. With the current patch 10.2.5 there were no serious changes for tanks ; there were more improvements to damage dealers and healers.
It remains to be seen whether there will be any changes to the tanks in the upcoming patches and hotfixes. In the past there have been some buffs for tanks that were actually intended to benefit the entire group.
What's next for WoW?
What we can be sure of, however, is the release of the upcoming expansion “The War Within”. The first tests have already begun here, and the release is expected to take place at the end of summer or beginning of autumn.
