  • New dungeons: Blackrock Caverns, Throne of the Tides, Vortex Peak, Stone Core, Tol'vir Lost City, Halls of Origination, and Grim Batol.
  • New raids: Throne of the Four Winds, Blackwing Descent, and Bastion of Twilight.
  • Boss-Based Raid Assignment System: Allows players to flexibly defeat each boss during the week in 10- or 25-player mode, rather than committing to a raid size during the week. The assignments are tied to the individual bosses.

  • Darkmoon Island: Discover what secrets Silas Darkmoon has in store.
  • Flying in the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor

This content will disappear with WoW Cataclysm Classic

If you've read our guide to how to best prepare for WoW Cataclysm Classic, you already know that with the Cataclysm, various content such as achievements and mounts will disappear from the game. Here is the official list from Blizzard:

  • Swift Zulian Tiger: Zul'Gurub is moving from a raid to a level-up zone, which will make this mount unobtainable.
  • Fast Razzashiraptor: This mount will also no longer be available with the changes to Zul'Gurub.
  • Razzashi cub: With the changes to Zul'Gurub, this pet will also no longer be available.
  • Tome of Transformation: Tortoise: This tome will continue to be available in other ways.
  • Crusader's Black/White Warhorse, Alliance Swift Steed, and Horde Swift Wolf: Since the trial-based tribute system will be removed from the Crusader's Heroic Trial, the Argent Crusade Tribute Chest will no longer appear, and these mounts will no longer be available.
  • Mimiron's Head: This mount will be available at a very low drop chance when defeating the 25-player version of Yogg'saron if you are not supported by Guardians.
  • Invincible: This mount will be available at a very low drop chance when defeating the 25-player Heroic version of the Lich King.
  • Various raid achievements such as "The Indestructible" or "The Immortal" from Naxxramas, "Champion/Conqueror of Ulduar" or the various tribute achievements for the Crusader's Trial are no longer feasible.
  • Say goodbye to the achievements for the dungeon and raid emblems from Wrath of the Lich King Classic, achievements such as "Timear Prophesy" and "Proofs of Death", as well as milestones for leveling up weapon skills and receiving Paladin mounts.

For a full list of all the content that will disappear with Cataclysm Classic, visit Warcraft Tavern. Also note that the Loremaster achievements will be adjusted due to the new quests in Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms.

What do I need to play Cataclysm Classic?

As with the previous Classic expansions, Cataclysm Classic only requires an active WoW subscription or some paid game time. Another parallel: Blizzard offers optional editions for the new Classic Chapter, through which you can secure in-game goodies.

  • Blazing Heroic Pack for $29.99: Flying Mount Avatar of Flame, Flying Mount Runebound Firelord (for Modern WoW), Pet Mini Wrathion (for Classic and Modern WoW), Transmog Set Tuning Hammer, Toy Instatown Starter Set
  • Blazing Epic Pack for $79.99: All goodies from the Heroic set plus character boost to level 80 and 30 days of game time

What else do I need to know?

With Cataclysm Classic, the developers are stamping out the currency tab. Instead of countless different emblems, there will only be Justice and Valor points for the PvE area in the future. In PvP, on the other hand, you only earn Honor Points and Conquest Points.

Important for the transition from WotLK to Cataclysm Classic: Emblems of Frost/Triumph will be converted into Justice Points. For the rest, you'll get a few gold pieces each. So it's up to you whether you get a whopping gold or justice points bonus for the upcoming adventure.

This choice does not exist with the PvP currencies. Whether it's the Badge of Honor, Shards of the Stone Keeper, Ghost Shards, Coin of Venture or the old Honor Points: You will always receive a certain amount of the new Honor Points in exchange.
